New models: LDV Terron 9 & D90

LDV South Africa used the Festival of Motoring as the stage to launch two new models aimed squarely at shaking up the local market. The Terron 9 and the D90 are set to give local buyers fresh options in segments usually dominated by the traditional big-name players.

The Terron 9 is a double cab bakkie that blends rugged workhorse ability with a touch of refinement. Under the bonnet sits a 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine producing 163kW and 520Nm, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Add proper 4×4 credentials and a 3 500kg towing capacity, and you’ve got a versatile bakkie ready to haul, tow, or tackle trails with ease. Styling is bold and contemporary, while the electric version distinguishes itself with a closed grille and striking C-shaped lights.

Inside, the Terron 9 doesn’t skimp on comfort. Dual digital displays, premium leather upholstery, and a host of safety systems – including a 5-star ANCAP rating and seven airbags – set it apart from the utilitarian norm. Buyers can choose between Elite, Premium, and Flagship trim levels to match their needs.

The D90, on the other hand, leans into family duties with seven seats, luxury-inspired features, and a clever mix of technology and practicality. Heated and ventilated massage seats set the tone up front, while adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and multiple differential locks ensure it’s as capable as it is comfortable.

Creature comforts abound: a panoramic sunroof, 20-inch diamond-cut alloys, an electric tailgate, and heated steering wheel come standard on higher trims.

Connectivity hasn’t been forgotten either, with a 360° camera, dual wireless charging pads, and the reassurance of seven airbags rounding off a well-equipped package. Available in Elite and Flagship versions, the D90 feels purpose-built for big South African families who want more than just space.

With pricing starting at R699 900 for the Terron 9 and R799 900 for the D90, LDV is aiming to disrupt the status quo. Both models promise a blend of performance, safety, and modern design.
