iCAUR makes a bold Festival of Motoring debut

South Africa’s electric vehicle market got a jolt of excitement at the 2025 Festival of Motoring, where the all-new iCAUR brand pulled the covers off its upcoming line-up. If the show’s buzz was anything to go by, and if they get the pricing right, iCAUR could soon be selling like hot vetkoek on a cold morning.

A new player with big ambitions

Although iCAUR is only scheduled to launch locally in 2026, the Festival of Motoring offered South Africans an early glimpse of what the brand is all about. Unlike many EV newcomers, iCAUR isn’t positioning itself as just another electric alternative. Instead, its focus is on sparking a new era of choice and creativity, with cars that allow buyers to mix, match, and make life their own. The emphasis is firmly on individuality and versatility, with each model designed to reflect personality as much as practicality.

Meet the 03T and V23

Two models took centre stage at the event – the sleek iCAUR 03T and the retro-inspired V23.

The 03T blends the style of a modern urban crossover with the toughness of a wide-body SUV. Built using lightweight aluminium construction, it has a bold stance without becoming too bulky. With up to 500km of all-electric range and all-wheel drive capability, it offers a balance between everyday usability and the kind of adventurous ability that South Africans love.

The V23, on the other hand, pays tribute to rugged, old-school off-roaders. Its boxy design, mechanical knobs, and sturdy detailing tap into nostalgia, but with a modern twist. What really makes it stand out, however, is its customisation potential. With as many as 24 interchangeable parts, the V23 can be adapted to reflect its owner’s style, mood, or sense of adventure. Like the 03T, it delivers up to 500km of range and comes with AWD as standard.

Looking ahead: the V27

As if the initial duo wasn’t enough, iCAUR also teased an upcoming addition to the family – the V27. Due to arrive within the next two years, it promises to expand the line-up even further. While details remain limited, its announcement highlights the brand’s determination to build a diverse and adventurous portfolio right from the start.

Technology for South African roads

One of the biggest challenges EVs face locally is range anxiety, but iCAUR seems well prepared. Alongside class-leading battery technology, safety systems, and a futuristic-meets-retro design language, the brand will also introduce Chery International’s “Golden Range Extender” REEV technology to its full line-up in 2026.

This clever setup combines electric efficiency with long-distance practicality, ensuring that drivers won’t need to compromise between sustainability and convenience. It’s a move aimed squarely at South Africans who love a good road trip but don’t want to worry about charging stops along the way.

It’s still early days, but iCAUR’s Festival of Motoring debut made one thing very clear: this is a brand that isn’t afraid to stand out. With bold styling, adventurous technology, and a refreshing focus on individuality, the newcomer could provide exactly the shake-up South Africa’s EV market has been waiting for. All that remains is to see whether the launch pricing in 2026 will match the promise.
